Azur was born in the green Chianti hills of Loppiano, Florence, the international centre of the Focolare Movement. AZUR stands for the word “azzurro”, blue in Italian, which, like the blue sky, conveys a sense of harmony and beauty. This name was chosen in 1967 by the founder of the Focolare Movement, the late Chiara Lubich (www.focolare.org).
